The UTSA Institute of Texan Cultures will take part in Smithsonian Magazine’s annual Museum Day Live! on Sept. 21, emulating the national museum’s free admission policy.
Tickets for Smithsonian magazine’s 15th annual Museum Day are available for download beginning Aug. 15. Museum-goers can head to the Museum Day website to download one free ticket, good for two people. Each ticket grants the ticket holder, and one guest, free access to any participating museum on September 21. One ticket is permitted per email address.
The theme of this year’s Museum Day is “Year of Music,” and the ITC is ready with Metal Mayhem, an exhibit paying tribute to San Antonio’s Heavy Metal scene and the people and bands who made this city the Heavy Metal Capital of the World.
Museum Day celebrates the extraordinary power of museums to provide visitors with insight and inspiration, and the event represents a national commitment to access, equity and inclusion. Over 1,250 museums have registered to date. To see the full list of participating museums and download a free ticket please visit Smithsonian.com/museumday.
