Asian Festival

A Celebration of Culture and Tradition

The Asian Festival remains one of San Antonio’s favorite family-friendly events, commemorating the diversity of people from the Ural Mountains to the Pacific island nations. With hands-on activities and opportunities to learn through experience, we come to appreciate the cultures that have added their distinct touches to the Texan identity.

Asian Festival returns on Saturday, May 27, 2023, at The University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) Downtown Campus.

For more information, please read our latest article: Asian Festival returns to UTSA on May 27.

While the COVID-19 pandemic has put a hold on our beloved festival, both UTSA and the Institute of Texan Cultures are committed to seeing this vital event continue and are planning to resume the Asian Festival in 2022.

The festival is a place where the community can engage with tradition. Attendees can experience the lion dance, view martial arts demonstrations, participate in henna tattoo artistry, taste authentic, unique foods and learn ancient games.

We look forward to bringing back the one-of-a-kind celebration next year and can’t wait to see our friends and community again!

Important guidance will come from the ITC Centennial 2068: Community Visioning process via the Community Engagement & Sustaining Support Task Force. The group’s work will provide important counsel on leveraging current and new partnerships to advance the annual cultural tradition and broaden its impact for so many in San Antonio and across the state.

As San Antonio reemerges from the pandemic, staff members are observing new developments and identifying possible dates for the future. We appreciate your patience as we work out the details.

As additional information becomes available, we will share on our website and on our social media channels.
