JANUARY 22, 2021 — Jenny Gonzalez joins the UTSA Institute of Texan Cultures as its new web developer, helping to manage and sustain a digital infrastructure for the museum.
With a BFA in computer graphics design from the University of the Incarnate Word and an associate’s degree in graphic arts from San Antonio College, Gonzalez comes to the ITC from the digital marketing field, where some of her clients included Texas MedClinic and the journalism department at Texas A&M University-San Antonio. Her work went beyond developing and posting content. She holds extensive experience with site architecture, search engine optimization, organic search terms, web traffic monitoring, analytics and other technical aspects behind modern websites.
“I see the institute’s mission through a marketing lens,” she said. “Our job is to learn, listen and understand. Why are people coming to us? We need to grab onto their experiences and share their stories, life and culture.”
Outside of the office, Gonzalez is an avid sports fan and follows several sports teams. Born in California and raised in Texas, Jenny comes from a big family and is one of six siblings.
When she toured with a band, she always looked forward to coming home to San Antonio.
“There’s no environment like San Antonio,” she said. “This place is just happy.”
